ABOUT ME

I am an educational consultant and advocate with a comprehensive background in communication sciences, educational psychology, and specialized reading interventions. A proud graduate of Northwestern University, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with concentrations in audiology, speech and language pathology, and learning disabilities. Building on this foundation, I pursued a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology at Lesley University, focusing on academic testing and art therapy.

In addition, I received specialized training at Massachusetts General Hospital, where I completed my certification as an Orton-Gillingham Reading Therapist and furthered my expertise in cognitive science by working in the neurology unit. This specialized training equipped me with a solid understanding of both the psychological and neurological aspects of learning and development.

I opened my private reading clinic, Learning Arena, because, as a Dyslexic person, I know what it feels like to struggle. I spent years on the child’s side of the table wondering why I was so different from my peers and thinking that I was stupid. It drove me crazy when adults would talk down to me, as though I couldn’t understand them. I know what it feels like when teachers reject you as “unteachable”. I vowed never to treat any person this way. I had to work harder and accept that my brain thinks differently. It turns out that it is a strength when you sit on the educator’s side of the table. I can see what a client needs and I can quickly adapt to the client’s way of thinking.

I offer individualized reading interventions, therapy services and educational consulting to help students overcome learning challenges and to achieve their full potential. Every session brings success to the client. I strive to make the work easy and fun. Each success the client achieves leads them effortlessly to the next success. In this simple flow, we eliminate the struggle and goals are reached.

I love to help clients find their path. Discovering a person’s strengths and using those strengths to overcome challenges is my specialty.
